Fat Americans Should Not Get Handicap Spots

Double Wide Love on Aisle 2

I love how we give fatties a handicap tag, when instead we should be giving them a fat tag.  Why should they get a spot right next to the store when they should park at the furthest away spot.

I don’t understand how people can let themselves get that huge and not think “Hey, maybe I should take this IV full of bacon out of my arm ,or what should look like an arm,  and go walk a few laps around the block!” Maybe you should not buy food if you are too fat to walk to that food.  We have military veterans with blown off limbs but these land whales take up their parking spots and all of the scooters just because they have lost all self control.

Walmart used to only have a few handicap spots, but now they have a whole handicap parking section.  Go to any of the theme parks now and they have scooter rentals for people too fat to actually walk around the parks. Now they can scoot around from donut shops to burger bars to ice cream stores and never have to walk a step and waste calories! The roller coasters now even have their own fat-row with bigger seats/harnesses so the lard mountains can ride them.  We are now catering to the lowest common denominator,  it is like “no fatty left behind”

Calories in Calories out = gain weight

It’s purrrrty simple. If you can’t move, you aren’t using as many calories, therefore you don’t NEED as many calories. Take supplements if you can’t get the nutrients you need and still take in less calories than you expend. Genetics/conditions be damned, you eat less, you weigh less.

  2. It’s true. Do you ever look in these baskets on those scooters? I used to work in a grocery store. EVERY SINGLE overweight person that used a scooter would go right past the produce and on into the freezer aisle. Hot Pockets, frozen pizza, spring rolls. All followed by chips, candy bars. What always makes me laugh is when they get Diet sodas.

  3. Its really more of a psychological issue in most cases. Hopelessness, depression, and genetics all play a role here. Just remember that before you bash overweight citizens. Although, I do agree that giving them special privileges certainly doesn’t help their situation.

  4. I’m currently anorexic and bulimic. I take in at most 600 calories a day, but usually far less. I exercise vigorously every day for 2 hours… and I’m overweight. I see my friends eating big bags of potato chips chowing down on breakfast, lunch, and dinner and get really jealous. They don’t even work out and they’re underweight.

While I agree in general that if calories in exceeds calories out you will gain weight, some people have messed up metabolisms or something. *shrug*

  5. I was given a medical condition of never walking again when I was young from a bad accident, yet here I am running 2 miles every morning. I was given a medical condition of having crooked bones, and would never be able to have a sense of balance, yet I do martial arts almost every day. Through rigorous training, discipline, and will power, I overcame these ‘medical’ conditions. Was it hard? Yes. Did it hurt? Yes. Life is hard, I learned that from an early age. Do I still feel pain? Yes, but it very little and its much better than if I had given into the fact that I would never walk again. Your body is an amazing thing; all you need is your mind’s will power, a schedule, and time. I’m not denying the fact that there are some people who can’t control their weight, but I personally believe that NOBODY should tell you what you can and can’t do. If you want to lose weight, it’s completely up to you. If you want to gain weight, that too is your choice. However, just be prepared for the consequences/health risks that come with it. You do not have a disability if you chose to eat and then become dependent/routine into eating. Much like would you give a disability pass to a guy who knowingly tried heroin, continued to do heroin and eventually got hooked on heroin? I highly doubt that. It’s sad, but with the increase in obese people in the US, they will soon become the ‘norm’ and therefore we will have to cater to them. How far we have fallen.

  6. I look at it this way…
When the zombie outbreak happens, the fatties will the first to get caught. Once their zombies, I wont have to worry as much because I’ll be able to out run them. So really, we need more fatties.

  7. @Kate

It’s more than how many calories you take in that’ll determine weight loss.
You need to eat right and drink plenty of water too. Eating a simple breakfast (2 eggs, couple of slices of toast, 1 serving of oatmeal) will kick start your metabolism. just eat right and keep plugging away with the exercise and I’m sure you’ll get results.

I used to weigh nearly 270 lbs, after working out I lost weight, but hit a wall at 230. After adopting proper eating habits and drinking nearly a gallon of water a day (mostly tap), I’m now down to 178 and I’m still going.

I believe in you Kate, just keep working right, and your body will respond accordingly

  8. @Kate

You’re only still overweight because you haven’t been doing it long enough. You gotta keep your eyes on the prize if you want to be a smokin hottie.

  9. How about you try eating a healthy diet instead of being anorexic and bulimic? it would be better for your health, you would look better and you would get to eat food.

  10. What about people who are fat as a result of a devastating injury and then having to take steroids? Should we punish them as well?

And, if we are punishing people who’s disability is their fault, should we go after the crippled guy who is that way because he did something stupid while drunk? I have a paralyzed friend who dove into shallow water while being high. Should he get a closer parking space?

My question is whether disability status is based on your ability to get around OR whether it is based on how you got that way. And who gets to decide?

By the way, I’m legally blind. Do I deserve special treatment because I’m blind based on whether it is a genetic condition versus the result of my negligence?

    Just wondering.

  11. This article is so fucking juvenile and ignorant. I applaud the author for making the rest of the population look like fucking Harvard graduates.

  12. @Kate you sound hot. We should hang out sometime. (plus you gotta be a cheap date if you’re not eating much)

  13. @Leslie: “What about people who are fat as a result of a devastating injury and then having to take steroids? Should we punish them as well?”

if they have a devastating injury, they get a handicapped placard. plus, devastating injury does not make you morbidly obese. if you can’t walk because you’re fat, you don’t get a placard. easy as pie. lots and lots and lots and lots of pie.

  14. @Anon

$6 can buy rice, wheat, beans, tomatoes etc. And you can have more than one meal using it. It’s not that the concept you use is invalid, it’s just that your use of it is not strictly correct. It would be more pertinent to throw in more contextual factors. Here, something like this: “Single parents with full time jobs and several kids find it more convenient and not prohibitively expensive to stop by McDonalds for Happy Meals on their way home from their shitty job in order to feed their fat kids and themselves, while they’re at it.” I IS cheaper to make your own food. You can, like anything else in America, make it MORE expensive by only shopping at organic grocery stores, etc. But it’s not necessary, and you’ll be just as healthy. Also, exercise has proven to not only encourage healthier eating habits, but better health in general. Then you’re not sitting there all guilty and sad thinking about how poorly you eat, while eating your Big Mac. It’s very sad, yes. But ultimately, life can be sad, and we still have to pick ourselves up, don’t we? Now, do you want to pick your 500lb self up, or your 180lb self? Also, don’t be so whiny. It makes you look fat(ter). America used to discourage whiners and fatness. Now it sheds a single tear and writes scrips for depression and hands out handicapped parking permits for fat people who often are just kind of lazy and self-pitying. This makes me lazy and pity them. I’ve externalized it! See, it feels good!

  15. @Kate

600 calories per day is below the starvation threshold. Your body refuses to lose weight because its afraid you are dying (seriously).

You have to eat 1000-1200 calories a day minimum (1800-2200 is normal for people trying to simply maintain their weight). And exercise. And drink water (a normal amount, not buckets of it).

Your metabolism is not “messed up or something”

  16. Bulimic and Anorexic and 2 hours of exercise. If you only take in 600 calories, you’re gonna fucking kill yourself.

There is a PROPER way to feed your body, it does not come from fast food restaurants. Very very rarely does food that is good for you come in sealed packages that contain goods packed with preservatives.

If you eat things that come from the earth; veggies, fruits, meats, whole grains, and you eat them in the proper portions, and intervals, you will be as healthy and fit as anyone around.

ALSO, you can’t expect to have sub 10% body fat unless you are training for a bodybuilding contest. Humans are supposed to hold some fat on their bodies, bone skinny is NOT ATTRACTIVE to a majority of males.

    HELP YOURSELF PLEASE!

  17. Kate’s metabolism is messed up because she is causing it to be that way.

  18. @justin

Yes, they are all down at the burger king, ordering triple burgers with extra cheese and bacon. XD

  19. Kate

    It’s called discipline.

Because you are trying to binge and purge.. your body is maintaining the fat, because you are on a feast/famine cycle.

    You need to

Eat breakfast, whether you feel like it or not, every day, with fruit and cereal.
Eat a light lunch of fruit or sandwiches
    Eat a good dinner.

Do this at set times every day, whether you are hungry or not and don’t throw it up.

You will brute force your metabolism into a healthy pattern again.

I suspect your a fatty who is making excuses though.

Oh I only eat 600 calories a day*

*Once I remove all the cake and pies from the calorie count

  20. @ everyone

got this post off reddit, we all think this! but no one ever says it! could you imagine the outrage if this was on the news? we all have to be so darn politically correct. i understand some issues like diseases, meds that can cause some obese but i work in medical field and alot from my observation is lazyness. like when i’m sittin down having fast food watching new workout regimine insanity and think what an awesome idea, but i’ll start tomorrow. lol

  21. It’s simple, but maybe not immediately evident:
The role of America in the global economy is to consume cheap crap.
The role of the stores is to sell Americans cheap crap.
The fattest consumers have proven themselves to be the most dedicated consumers of cheap crap.
So you see, it’s really a secret meritocracy.

So what’s it gonna be? Either belly up to the trough with a little more enthusiasm, or go park your deluded, America-hating, skinny ass at the farthest reaches of the parking lot!

  22. You are clearly just upset that they don’t give out handicap tags for mental retardation; just be grateful that you get to go out in public without wearing a bell around your neck and a sign that reads “Beware – I Have a Shitty Personality”.

There will always be someone that is smarter than you, funnier than you, healthier than you, wealthier than you, happier than you, and more privileged than you. Here’s to hoping they throw it in your face. -JN

  23. I wonder how much hotter/longer a huge fattie like the one you describe would burn as compared to someone my size (6’1″ 185 lbs.)

  24. @juniorsgv Hey Junior, the next time you see a fatty on that cart, why don’t you express yourself? I would love to see your expression when said fatty rockets off their wal*mart scooter and knocks you upside the head with a can of sausage gravy. Please, tell us how you really feel.-JN

  25. The only thing that matters in this discussion is that the service providers (stores) are not forced to cater to the fat people. This is a free country and the businesses choose to cater to the fat because their money is not any worse than anybody else’s. You should just shut your mouth, your rights have not been treaded upon. Let the fat people be fat, it’s their choice, they are as free as you are.

  26. @Jared

At full speed, their battery will go flat pretty fast carrying that much weight.

Just out run them till that happens, they you can slap the crap out of them.

It’s not like they can get up and chase you.

The other option is to ward them off with fresh fruits and vegetables. Hold a stick of celery up at them and watch them flee in terror.

  27. I’m glad there are so many dieticians and nutritionists on the internet, otherwise this whole post and subsequent comments would just kinda look like a bunch of skinny holier-than-thou jerks venting on how much they hate fat people. People are different. Some are skinny, some are fat. Some have high metabolisms and others have to work off every calorie. I’m someone who falls into the latter category. Stop being so judgmental and try to see the inner beauty of people.

  28. @Chris

We are not talking about normal people, who are a bit chubby or have a beer gut.

We are talking about the mountainous mounds of pork gravy guzzling, human whales.

Normal people don’t need a scooter to get them 100 yards down the road.

Normal people can move on their own two legs.

Normal people can see their own genitals without need of a harness to lift the fat and a floor mirror.

  29. /signed

My mother is a retired dietician who worked quite a bit with overweight people. I asked her one night if she ever had a patient who she thought simply could not lose the weight. Her answer was no, in her 28 career not a single overweight patient was incapable of losing the weight.

(for the record she was very understanding of the damning social and emotional complexities than can make overweight people feel like their weight is beyond their control [I am less understanding])

  30. i like how katie never responded to all these realistic and helpful suggestions. bulimic, anorexic, eating 600 calories a day, and exercising for 2 hours a day… either ‘katie’ is completely bullshitting everyone on her issues or after reading all these comments and nobody sympathizing with her she’s crying at her computer and wondering why nobody believes her regarding her messed up metabolism.

  31. @CW: Fat people are like zombies. You can out run them, but they’ll catch you eventually. Then they will eat your brains… wrapped with bacon.

  32. Because fat people are good for business. It’s inadvertently promoted to stimulate fat people

  33. @Kate.

You’re an idiot. 600 cal a day?!?! No wonder you’re fat. You’ve killed your metabolism. If you starve your body like that your metabolism drops to conserve energy and eventually no matter what you eat you gain weight. My Human Nutrition professor laughed one day about women (usually rich) that used to come into her clinic and complain that all they’ve had to eat for the past 10 years have been salads and they still gain weight.

I’m guessing you’re probably just trolling, because at 600 cal a day with any amount of exertion you’d not likely have the strength to type that post.

If you’re fat and think that its your genes or something: eat less, move more, shut the fuck up.

  34. @Jared

On the bright side, when you cleanse them with fire… they will burn extra long, and they can be foiled by going through any doorway narrower that 3 feet.

I am sure stairs will also be an effective barrier to fatties, as they can’t get the scooters up there.

  35. Lets not forget how easy they are to lure with doughnuts, cakes, and bacon… but is there anything that bacon doesn’t lure?

  36. People who practice extreme sports, smoke, or exhibit injuries from other high risk behavior should also not be allowed to have handicap spots. See what I did there?

  37. @Anonymous
I read what everyone said. I know I messed up my metabolism, and I know I SHOULD eat 6 small meals a day, etc… My doctor keeps telling me these things, so it’s nothing new. But I don’t eat much not just for weight loss, but for psychological issues I really don’t want to get into. I know it’s bad and I shouldn’t do it, but it’s not that simple.

    Thanks for the concern though.

  38. wow what an insensitive asshole you are. has the thought ever crossed your (feeble) mind that a lot of fat people are not fat because they eat too much. there are a plethora of diseases that cause obesity/massive weight gain. i hope your doctor puts you on a shitload of Prednisone one day.

  39. But Jamie, for fat people, walking a long way from the car to the store would help cure their condition and the more time they spend hauling their fat asses around the less fat their asses are.

  40. @Eric Johnson

“Carbs cause fatness. Stop eating carbs, watch the weight disappear.”

You’re a fucking idiot. This is exactly what’s wrong with this country. Everybody is either too fucking stupid to do easy research and LEARN that a healthy diet involves balance and natural foods. Not eating carbs is a great idea – if you’re a fucking moron and you want to shed weight while depriving your body, ensuring serious health problems in the future.

Unbelievable. This country is fucked. And it’s all because 80% of Americans are lazy fat-asses, welfare junkies, or TOO FUCKING STUPID TO live a healthy, meaningful life and contribute to society.

If it were up to me, anyone stupid enough to eat themselves into obesity and disability should be thrown to sea to sink or lose weight and learn to appreciate their body trying to swim to shore. Fuck them. You are given one life and one body. If you choose consistently to make decisions that run that body and life into the ground, then why live it anyways?

  41. Leslie, this is about people being lazy. You don’t get fat by some freak accident.

  42. Precious, the precipitous rise in obesity in America has nothing to do with Prednisone. There are VERY few people in this world who are fat for any reason other than lifestyle choices.

  43. @Precious

So it’s a drug that forces you to eat pies non stop?

    no?

    http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Prednisone

Then there is still no excuse.. if you are on a medication that makes you more likely to gain weight, then you adjust your diet accordingly. It raises blood glucose, so you need to pretty much eliminate sugary/ carb food from your diet.

OMG it means you need to eat vegetables ! Oh no !

  44. @Precious

“wow what an insensitive asshole you are. has the thought ever crossed your (feeble) mind that a lot of fat people are not fat because they eat too much. there are a plethora of diseases that cause obesity/massive weight gain. i hope your doctor puts you on a shitload of Prednisone one day”

When 1 out of every 3 people in the US are obese and 1 out of every 33 people in Japan are obese, DO YOU REALLY THINK THE MAJORITY OF THEM REALLY HAVE SOME DISEASE THEY CAN’T CONTROL??

You must be a complete fucking moron, if that’s what you really think.

Yeah, the lazy 300 lb whales cruising through the McDonald’s drive thru to order their Big Mac and 64oz Pepsi are all suffering from some condition preventing them from becoming healthy. Let’s all pity them and their diseases.

IT’S JUST TOO FUCKING HARD TO EXERCISE SELF CONTROL! Let’s label them disabled and feel bad for them.

What a joke, this country is pathetic. Obesity in the VAST MAJORITY OF CASES is caused by laziness and poor nutrition. Not some magical disease that seems to only strike the US population. God help us for ever becoming so fucking soft. No wonder we have fallen behind the rest of the world and will soon be damned and nothing more than a vast swath of poverty and disease. It’s disgusting, and we brought it upon ourselves.

Fuck disease. Whatever happened to will power? Think of all the resources we’d save if we just eliminated fat people? Most of them don’t work hard or contribute to society in any meaningful way anyways. And smokers, drug addicts, alcoholics, welfare junkies, and homeless beggars? When will we learn to stop pitying and shoveling benefits at them. If they can’t make it in this world, then good riddance.
